MISSION LOG 00.3 "First Inspection - Part 3"
Captain Jeff Handshaw was the first of it's officers to join the new ship,
and had been working nearly around the clock since he docked his private ship in the shuttle bay. He
had spent the last 72 hours feverishly working at the computer consoles in Engineering of 'his' new ship. He no doubt
would master the new technology in no time, and have the ship running at 100%...for its new Commanding Officer.
After the mysterious destruction of the original USS StarQuest it's Captain
Jeff Handshaw and crew were stationed on Earth during the war, shoring up several important positions in Starfleet. Their experience proved
invaluable in keeping our war effort alive. But now with the war over, Captain Handshaw has chosen
again to travel among the stars. Strangely, though, he turned down command of the new StarQuest? Some have rumored that
he is still shaken over the loss of his ship, others think it has something
to do with the tragic losses of his wife and closest friend on that fateful last voyage of the original
USS StarQuest, a mission which is still listed "classified". Captain Handshaw, who originally began in Engineering and
oversaw the construction of the new starships for the war, would only say that he
has loved Engineering and that is where he wants to be. Captain Scott, one of his best friends, has always been his idol, so
who is to say that, that's all there is to it? But then again, since that last mission, he has
been a different person, as if he learned something that we can't know. During the war, he was always around when something amazing or
mysterious occured. And then there's that ship of his...
Engineer's personal log
The new StarQuest is an amazing machine. I haven't been able to keep my hands off her since I arrived. She is almost as technically advanced as my little ship, too bad I can't directly incorporate some of my special technologies into it. I'm glad I was involved in the design of her, because the design has allowed me to incorporate some 'changes' that should go unnoticed that will affectively increase the efficiency of most of the systems by about 20%, for now, when needed. Although, I have to keep an eye on our new 1st officer, Lt. Vorun Klemendat. He's smart, dangerous smart. A few times he came around while I was working and I had to quickly cover up. I can't let him interfere. I vow I will never let engineering fail my ship, again. After some much needed sleep I will begin working on the fighters. I'm glad Starfleet finally figured out that big ships like this need fighters to defend her against ships like the ones that the Jem-Haddar used.
